Roaming Around at the USA Speedskating Olympic Trials!

Those who know me, know that I love the Olympics.  I have been to 5 Games and was a volunteer at Rio 2016.  I will be missing the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea this February but I will have several friends there to keep me up to date.

I had the opportunity on January 3 and 5 to attend the Team USA Olympic Trials for Speedskating at the Pettit National Ice Center in West Allis, WI.  Wisconsin and the Midwest have a strong tradition for producing Olympic speed skaters(Eric Heiden, Bonnie Blair, Dan Jansen, Tucker Fredericks).  I attended with my friend Chad and we had a great time watching the hopefuls skate in the 1000meters and 500meters qualifying.  It was interesting to see the races in person, ad to get acquainted with who to cheer for while watching the Winter Olympics next month.

The drive of these skaters for this one moment is great and inspiring to see. If you ever get a chance, go and see Olympians compete.  And cheer on TEAM USA next month!
