Notes from the Travel and Adventure Show in Chicago Feb 10-11

Greetings Everyone! I hope these cold and snowy winter days have you dreaming of travel and taking future journeys.  A great place to get travel ideas is to attend the Travel and Adventure Show held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont(Chicago)IL.  We have been travelling down there each winter to get travel inspiration and listen to guest speakers such as, Rick Steves and Samantha Brown. Rick Steves is such an influential member of the travel industry and it is always good to get his perspective on travel.  This year's message was about finding your own way of travel and not being afraid to travel.  Travel breaks down barriers.  These interesting political times makes for some great conversations and we should not be afraid to meet and speak with others when we travel.  The Travel and Adventure Show really shows off the diversity of the world, from Wisconsin and other US destinations to Europe, Asia and Africa you can see what each place in the world has to offer if you just give it a chance.  This year, I attended as a travel professional and I got to meet some really great people who gave me some great advice!  Travel is becoming more about experiences rather than just seeing sites, I will keep this in mind when planning upcoming adventures!

Another passion of mine is the Olympics, it is so exciting to watch the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics and see these wonderful athletes competing to do their best and to represent their countries.  The symbolism of the two Koreas on one team is inspiring and for two weeks, they are at peace.  We had fun at the Korea booth, where they were promoting the Olympics! I had some great conversations about the Olympics and shared my photos from Rio where I got to meet the Gold medal winning Korean women's archery team. We took our picture with the Olympic Mascots , got Olympic pins and information about PyeongChang!

This was a great weekend and a great way to break up our winter!

Happy travels to where ever you decide to roam this year!
