Day 1 June 3: Arrival day! Settle in to the hotel in Edinburgh and we will meet up in the evening for a welcome dinner. Overnight in Edinburgh
Day 2 June 4: We will explore the main sites of Edinburgh. We will visit the Palace of Holyrood House(the monarchs official residence in Scotland), Edinburgh Castle and explore the shops, pubs and restaurants of the Royal Mile. Overnight in Edinburgh.
Day 3 June 5: Today we leave Edinburgh, go across the Forth Bridge and travel to St. Andrews. We will visit the Cathedral and Castle ruins and stop by the Old Course, the home of golf. We will continue on to Falkland where we will visit Falkland Palace. You may recognize Falkland from Outlander, it stood in as Inverness! Overnight in the Angus area
Day 4 June 6: We hit the Castle Trail today. We start with Glamis Castle the ancestral home of Elizabeth the Queen Mother (Mother of the current Queen Elizabeth). We will then travel up the east coast to Dunottar Castle, a magnificent ruined castle on the North Sea. Overnight in the Angus area.
Day 5 June 7: Another day to explore castles. We continue inland to Royal Deeside to visit Crathes Castle and its beautiful gardens. We end the day with a visit to Balmoral, the Scottish home of the royal family. Overnight Royal Deeside
Day 6 June 8: Today we will visit Castle Fraser, and Kildrummy Castle ruin. We may even stop at a stone circle if time and weather permit! Overnight Royal Deeside.
Day 7 June 9: We leave the castles behind and head to Speyside. We will tour a whisky distillery and the Speyside Cooperage. Overnight Speyside.
Day 8 June 10: Today we explore the beautiful scenery of Cairngorms National Park(The Highlands) full of mountains and lochs at the Rothiemurcus Estate. We will get out and take some short walks to enjoy this part of Scotland. We will visit the Highland Folk Museum and learn how people have lived in this area for generations. Overnight Speyside
Day 9 June 11:We travel south along Loch Tay into Trossachs National Park. We will spend time at Stirling Castle, a stunning castle on a hilltop(craig) full of Scottish national history. We travel back toward Edinburgh with stops at the Kelpies sculptures Evening in Edinburgh. Overnight Edinburgh
Day 10 June 12:Our last full day takes us to visit the mysterious Rosslyn Chapel(featured in the DaVinci Code). We will visit the Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh and the afternoon is yours to enjoy your last day. We will meet in the evening for a farewell dinner and toast to a wonderful trip.
Day 11 June 13: Departure Day
*This tour will visit several historic sites with uneven surfaces and stairs. We will travel with a driver and guide but it will also require walking several miles a day.
