Jolly Holiday in London

May 19-26, 2019


  • Day 1 May 19: Arrival day! Settle in to the Lime Tree Hotel we will meet up in t he evening for a welcome dinner.

  • Day 2 May 20: We start with a guided tour of Westminster Abbey, the site of royal ceremonies for 1000 years. We will then follow our guide on a tour of Westminster and Whitehall ending up in Trafalgar Square. The rest of the day is on your own to explore, maybe the National Gallery or take in a West End show this evening.

  • Day 3 May 21: Today we explore the vibrant area of Brick Lane and Spitalfields. We will have a guided walking tour of the area and visit the two markets. This area is home to many ethnic eateries and will be a great place to have lunch. We will then go on to visit St. Paul’s Cathedral in the afternoon. The evening is on your own.

  • Day 4 May 22: We will head out of London by train from Waterloo Station to visit Hampton Court Palace, the home of Henry VIII. Hampton Court was the home to the Kings and Queens of England for nearly 300 years. You will have an audio guide to help you navigate the Tudor and Baroque palace and have time to explore the extensive gardens. We will return to London in the early afternoon where you will have some time on your own before we meet up again for an evening Ghost and Pub tour of the West End.

  • Day 5 May 23: We head out this morning for a guided walking tour of The City, the historic “square mile” of London. The City is the historic core of London since Roman Times and is the financial heart of the modern city. We will break for lunch and then spend the afternoon at The Tower of London. You will get to see the Crown Jewels and take your time exploring the rest of the 1000 year old fortress on the Thames. The evening is on your own.

  • Day 6 May 24: We head out of London to visit Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world. This is Queen Elizabeth’s favorite home and you will get to tour the state rooms and St. George’s Chapel (site of the recent wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle). The town of Windsor is also ripe for exploring and will make for a grand day out.

  • Day 7 May 25: Our last full day in London will take us to the Portobello Road Market to shop for antiques, souvenirs, and sample food at the various stalls. We will then move on to Kensington and knights bridge to visit Harrod’s or for more culture, visit the V&A museum. The rest of the afternoon is on your own. We will meet up in the evening for a farewell dinner to toast our great “ Jolly Holiday in London”

  • Day 8 May 26: Departure day.


*This tour will make use of public transportation and will require walking several miles a day.
